 Psycho Review

Behind the Movie Psycho: How bad Ramgopal Varma movies may be, there are a set of audience who eagerly wait for new releases from him. With least promotion and less hype, the new arrival from RGV production house is ‘Psycho’ attacking the theatres today. Kishore Bhargav directed the movie with inspiration from some real life incidents. Let us see, how far RGV can bring out some psychic vibrations among audience with this?
In the Movie Psycho: Story begins with introduction to a middle class family of Meera (Nisha Kothari), working as small employee for a company. She is survived by dad, mum and a younger brother. Her routine includes enjoying the work at office with colleagues and safely coming back home to spend the evening times with family. A smoothly going Meera’s life is into jerks ever since she met Nikhil (Raj Shroff) in the city bus.
Nikhil introduces himself as a friend to Meera’s colleague and tries to get closer boarding the same bus daily. Friendly natured Meera even passes her mobile number to Nikhil and then begins her problems. Nikhil continuously sends SMS messages affecting the mental state of Meera who gets worried. Very soon Meera realizes the actual identity of Nikhil as a stalker who loves her madly and starts avoiding him. To her dismay, situations become more troublesome each day as Nikhil begins to play with Meera’s family. When life gets horrible, the dejected girl approaches Special Crime Branch Inspector (Milind Gunaji) through a common friend Sekhar who actually loves Meera.
But, Nikhil goes further mad to brutally attack Sekhar and also kills the Inspector. What is Meera’s retribution to this Psychic Nikhil and how she punishes her is the brave climax with some needful message to young girls who are obvious victims like Meera in the current society.
Values & Out of the Movie Psycho: More than a film, better we can address this as a short film for it small duration. Yet again, this is a complete RGV brand movie with bizarre camera angles and slow paced narration. Good that director Kishore Bhargav concentrated lot on maintaining a realistic factor throughout the execution to bring in only characteristic behaviors rather artificial performances.
Nisha Kothari is too good. She looked apt as a middle class working girl in those typical costumes. The physical and mental sufferings of Meera are well exemplified in Nisha’s face. Raj Shroff is also good but got a misbalanced and elusive characterization fails to connect with audience. Neither his look was horrible nor his acts. In fact, RGV could not exactly define the role of ‘Psycho’ which is the core story substance. Certain scenes like sending SMS messages or physically hurting the family members then coming in police to catch the psycho have nothing new either concept wise or execution wise. Yet, it’s the flow of scenes with effective background score maintained a flavor of what RGV was trying to say.
Coming to the overall feel, Psycho has all the shades and elements needed to become a crime based TV serial but not a full fledged feature film. When many TV channels are providing the same content with brand new intense presentations, what is the need for audience to go all the way for a theatre? Brand RGV might pull some openings but finally, ‘Psycho’ is one more insane certified RGV attempt to win the public anguish. It could have been safe, if RGV remained with title of ‘Stalker’ than changing it to ‘Psycho’ because no where I sensed the actual burning psychic vibrations in Nikhil.
MA Verdict of the Movie Psycho: Silly TV Serial with Stupid Content!
                                                  MA Rating: 1.75/5
